General Anesthesia
General anesthesia
implies that you will be given an intravenous drug to induce sleep
or given a combination of gases so that a surgical plan of
anesthesia is produced. Following an intravenous induction, a
combination of gases may be administered from an anesthesia machine
to keep you asleep until the surgery has ended. You will begin to
awaken from the anesthetic shortly after the operation and will
remain in the Recovery Room until all reflexes are present and your
vital signs are stable. You may not remember your stay in the
Recovery Room.
