Biography
I have
worked in healthcare for 28 years. I have worked as a
registered nurse in all arenas of perioperative care:
Preop, OR, PACU, Surgical Assistant, Administration. After
receiving my graduate degree, I worked as a Nurse
Practitioner in internal medicine and infectious disease
before returning to perioperative
nursing.
Victoria Gore, NP
Born in
Augusta, Georgia, my family later moved to Aiken, South,
Carolina. I moved to Atlanta in the 80’s where I began
working in the corporate world, selling IBM equipment.
My desire to become a caretaker and pursue a nursing career
became an important life goal. Undergraduate courses at
Georgia Baptist College of Nursing (Mercer University)
helped me to achieve this goal of receiving a Bachelors
degree in 1994.
I worked as an RN for 11 years at Atlanta Outpatient
Surgery Center and Atlanta Outpatient Peachtree Dunwoody in
pre-op, recovery room and extended recovery.
The challenge for me continued as I wanted to follow my
mothers’ footsteps as a Nurse Practitioner. Three years
later, (May, 2006), I completed my Masters in Advanced
Practice Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Brenau
University in Gainesville, GA. I successfully completed my
national board certification in June 2006.
My graduate program encompassed 2 years of studying and
understanding the importance of research and evidence based
practice and how it affects our work today. In September
2006, the article I wrote “Polypharmacy in Older Adults”
was published in the Advance for Nurse Practitioners
periodical.
I have currently accepted a PRN position as a Nurse
Practitioner with Emory Specialty Associates – Anesthesia.
My duties include pre anesthesia evaluation and health
clearance prior to surgery in an outpatient and hospital
setting. Additionally, I work at a clinic as a Family Nurse
Practitioner.
I am a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor
Society of Nursing, American Academy of Nurse
Practitioners, and the Georgia Nursing Association. My
involvement from the beginning of opening Good Samaritan
Health Clinic for the working poor in Gwinnett became a
reality in July of 2005, where I currently serve on the
Board of Directors.
I am married and have 2 children and live in Suwanee
Georgia. I am an active member of Perimeter church in
Duluth, and I enjoy the outdoors, hiking, tennis, movies
and being with family and friends.
