I grew up in a small town in northern West Virginia. After high school, I attended nursing school at Kent State University in Ohio and graduated in 1979 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree. My initial work experience included medical surgical floor nursing, ICU and surgical nursing, which led to my decision to become a CRNA. I graduated from the Ohio State University Nurse Anesthesia program in 1985, and have worked with anesthesia groups in Columbus, OH, Austin, TX, and Greensboro, NC prior to moving to Atlanta. Working in these various settings has provided me with great experience in many areas of anesthesia and surgery.

My husband David is also in the medical field. Outside of work, we enjoy cooking, traveling, hiking and water sports. We are active members of our local church. The remainder of our free time is spent tending my flowers and spoiling our dog.

I was born at Fort Stotsenberg, Philiipine Islands. My father was in the United States Army, which gave me the opportunity to immigrate to the United States in 1951. I was naturalized a U. S. Citizen four years later.

I attended the University of Texas for my nursing program, and my clinical training was completed at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas. I worked in the Operating Room at JohnSealy Hospital, Galveston Texas for two years. In 1957, I received a commission of First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. I was stationed at Mt. Home AFB, Idaho. It was there I met my husband who was then a B-47/B-52 pilot. I was accepted to Flight Nursing School, but I opted for marriage instead.

Upon my husbands return from Viet Nam, I decided to go back to school on the GI Bill benefit. I attended Harris Memorial Hospital School of Anesthesia and graduated in 1973.

I joined the Anesthesia Staff at Northside Hospital and Shallowford Hospital in 1973 and I have practiced here in Atlanta ever since.

I have a son and daughter with three grand children, ages 13, 10 and 3.

My hobbies include gardening, creating Bonsai and raising Orchids. I am a Ballroom Dancer and competed nationally for several years.

I have spent most of my life here in the Atlanta area.  I graduated from Chamblee High School in 1975.  Afterwards, I attended University of Georgia and Medical College of Georgia where I received a B.S. in Nursing.  I worked at Crawford Long Hospital in the ICU for a few years.  Following that, I finished the Anesthesia program at Georgia Baptist Hospital and Mercer University.  I received my license and certification in anesthesia in 1984.  Most of my 23 years of anesthesia experience has been here in the Atlanta area, though I have worked and been licensed in both Pennsylvania and Delaware.   I have worked with the anesthesia departments at Crawford Long Hospital and Northside Hospital and joined Emory Specialty Associates 2 years ago.  My husband Doug and I have been married for 18 years, and we have one son.

I am a Southern woman by birth and stroke of fortune, from South Carolina to my upbringing in Virginia. Portsmouth General Hospital School of Nursing trained my Great Aunt, my Aunt and me. I went on from there to Norfolk General Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia and I've been in practice for many years.

Atlanta has been my home since 1973. I've raised my daughter here. She is an artist living with her husband in Athens, Georgia.
Recently,I've downsized to a high rise condominium, and am enjoying a new style of life.

My career has been Hospital or Outpatient based anesthesia. I consider myself most fortunate to work with this group of anesthesiologists in daily practice. After all these years, coming to work is still a pleasure.
